Thieves have managed to get victims’ money by filing early and using stolen information. You can avoid this is by filing as early as possible and by getting an Identity Protection PIN through the IRS.

Get the Right Links to the Right Place
How do you know if you have the correct tax form? Go straight to the source – the official IRS website. You can find all the forms you will need on their “Forms & Publications” page here: www.irs.gov/forms-pubs .

Clean Up Your Records
Take the time to properly store or get rid of tax documents when you’re done filing your taxes. Always keep copies of your tax returns. The IRS has a set of rules to help you figure out which documents to save and how long to keep particular records.
